Lots of stuff to write about, as usual...

I haven't got a ton of time, so I'll try to briefly touch on a number of important things that have been on my mind lately.  This won't be everything, but it'll have to do for now.  First, the LiveJournal party I'm throwing is still on for this Saturday.  That's right... it'll take place on May 3rd at 4:00pm, on the top floor of the Metreon.  To get up there, take an elevator from the ground floor (near the main entrance, at the corner of Fourth and Mission) and hit the 4 button.  That will take you up to the top floor, where there's a balcony.  This floor is above the two floors that have arcade machines on them.  We'll meet outside at the metal tables, or inside if the weather is bad.  I will provide free drinks, and possibly food.

I will have a list of invite codes with me.  Some of them will be given out as prizes, as will one or more paid accounts and other things.  Trivia questions about the LiveJournal Web site/interface may be a preliminary contest, depending on how many people show up and how long we wait upstairs.  After that, as before, we'll head downstairs to the Dance Dance Revolution EXTREME machine for a DDR tournament.  The winner will receive six months of paid time for their LiveJournal, and the second prize will be two of my invite codes.  I may bump the prizes slightly, depending on how fierce the competition is.  The contest will be brief... only a couple songs will be available for choosing, and the winner will be determined by their percentage of Perfect steps... nothing more.  I may also throw in one additional category at the last minute, if I'm so inclined.

Next, we'll all vote on which movie we wish to see together.  This will be the last thing we do at the Metreon, so it will most likely be a late showing.  I can not pay for your tickets, so bring money or a credit card or something.  After that, we'll most likely head to get some food or whatever.  We'll be doing this inside the Metreon, at their food court... not at Mel's Drive In, like last time.  I will not be buying everyone food this time... you'll be paying separately for your own meal as you order it, so that I don't get stuck paying $60 or more for the people who bought food but didn't put in some or all of the money required for their meal and gratuity.  After that, we may head outside to the Yerba Buena Gardens to play an outdoor game such as Ultimate Frisbee or something... it'll depend on the amount of people that show up, how much of the gardens are free to use, and other factors.

I'm actually considering moving this event to before the food, as people will full stomachs can't run as well as people with empty stomachs.  Regardless, there will definitely be a way for people to just sit and talk... we're all going to get to know eachother as the day goes on.  There are coffee shops nearby, there's plenty to do inside the Metreon (including a bar inside Portal One), and we could always walk to Union Square or most anywhere else.  Finally, I've gotten a number of requests to include Karaoke in this event... so the people remaining at the end of the night can work that out amongst ourselves.  I'll suggest a few places, and we'll figure out a way to get there together.  Muni will do just fine if there aren't enough drivers... I know what to take.  :)

As I've said before... if you're reading this, you're invited.  If you're not familiar with exactly where the Metreon is, don't worry... it's fairly easy to get to.  It's at the corner of Fourth and Mission, just south of Market.  If you're arriving on a BART train, you can disembark from the Powell Street underground station... and just walk one block to Mission, from Market.  If you're taking the Golden Gate Transit's 20, 50, or 80 bus south from Marin County, there's a stop right in front of the main entrance towards the end of the route.  If you're in the city and near the Muni's F line, you can take that to the corner of Fourth and Market... then just walk a block towards the side of the street with the Old Navy on it to get there.  You can also get driving directions if you're planning on arriving by car.  Be sure to park in the Fifth and Mission garage which is right across the street, as it's pretty cheap and your car will be much safer than pretty much anywhere else in San Francisco.

If there's anything else you'd like to know, give me a call on my cellular phone or send it a short text message.  My phone will be fully charged, and ready to receive your calls and/or text messages the entire day... even if I'm in the movie with everyone.  I can text message you from inside the theater with information, or leave the theater and call you if necessary to let you know what we're doing and how long it will take.  I'm doing this so that people who arrive late will be able to join us.  I'll be cross posting this to other communities that I run and am a member of, so we'll hopefully see some new faces this time.  I'm also going to start calling people today, to remind them about the event and get confirmation on whether they're coming or not.  The next post I make will contain a list of who's going, who might show, and who's not... which I'll update as often as I'm able to.

The rest of this post will just be some personal stuff.  For those of you who haven't heard, I just recently got laid off at UPNetworks.  That was my full time job, and well... frankly, it sucked in a number of ways that I didn't elaborate much on.  Working there had its advantages, but I'll save this topic for another post.  I really do have a lot to say about the place, though.  I'm happy I got laid off from there though, as I was about to quit.  Also, my co-workers (but not my boss) all knew I was expecting to get canned... and I was relieved that it happened when I expected it to, so that I didn't have to quit.  Now I can collect unemployment while I relax and look for a better job.  I have a number of leads already, and it looks like it'll be as easy as it's always been to land something decent... which is quite a surprise, considering today's economy.  I guess I'll just have to see how it works out.

On one final note, I'd like to ask Justin's ProfileJustin (Kudo/Squigger) what his problem is with me.  He posted that he wanted to hit me in his LiveJournal the other day, and it really offended me... as I thought we were friends, we hang out all the time since we've known eachother for like 10 years, and I don't even know what I did to deserve it.  It really pissed me off, too.  ><  If anyone knows what the hell he's bitching about, please feel free to enlighten me.  I'll write more when I have more time.  I look forward to seeing all of you soon... Saturday's turnout is expected to be even larger than my last LiveJournal party.  I can't wait to see you all again... don't forget to reply to this post if you're local, and you can or can't make it!  Post questions here please, too!  :)

P.S.  By the way... happy belated birthday, Rene's ProfileRene!  I wish I had known it was your birthday the day I saw you at the Metreon.  Happy belated birthday to azhp, kerensa, maltesetony, and akkhima (today!) as well... and my apologies for the rest of you I've recently missed.  Unfortunately, I can rarely get online these days for personal stuff (as usual)... and I haven't had time to wish many of you well lately.  I'm sorry...
