It's coming...!!!

That's right... my Dance Dance Revolution tournament is less than 13 hours away!  For those of you who don't know the details, I'm funding and organizing Extreme Attack... my very own DDR competition.  It begins at noon on Saturday, February 1st.  It'll have the usual elements, sporting both a Perfect Attack and Freestyle category... but I can't leave well enough alone, and I'm adding my own creative twists.  I've always said that the purpose of DDR is to have fun, and that's why you'll see a bit of my odd humor mixed into the competition.  Expect random distractions as part of Perfect Attack, and cash prizes funded by yours truly.  There will even be enough free pizza and caffeinated drinks to either fill everyone's stomachs, or totally empty my checking account.  ;)

I love DDR... all of you know this.  The reasons why are simple... it encourages athletic, aerobic activity.  It blends technology with music, encourages better coordination, and can even help shy people break out of their mold and present themselves more readily to the public.  It's exercise without the costly gym membership that many can't afford, encourages you to be yourself, and displays a part of your own style in the dance you do.  Best of all, younger people tend to pick it up easily... so it's not as intimidating as many might expect.  I promote DDR because I believe it promotes healthy living, and it's a safe and worthwhile activity for just about anyone.

The tournament is free to enter... just pop $1 in the machine to play your qualifying song, and every other song you play in the tournament is on us.  We'll also be awarding gift certificates, and the arcade itself is full of really great old and new games.  Regretfully, the DDR Extreme machine is the only Bemani game... but we'll be fixing that soon.  I expect us to pick up a Dance ManiaX machine before the year is up, and we'll just keep going from there.  If anyone has any questions about the tournament, feel free to give me a call.  My phone is always on, and the number is right there on the tournament information page.  Call any time, including at 3am if you like.

If you live in the San Francisco Bay Area and enjoy playing DDR, I hope you'll show up and have a slice of pizza with us at the very least.  All are welcome to watch and/or enter the competition.  Oh, and feel free to spread the word about this competition... I've also posted about it in my very own San Francisco Bay Area community, and the DDR community as well.  :)

Re: NICE
You need to show up for one of these tournaments, bro.  It was suh-weeeeeet.  Lots of fun all around, and as you know... I provided stomach filling goodness for all.  You must show up next time if you're not too damned busy!  :)

Sorry that I never spotted you at the tournament... so I'm guessing that you were too busy to make it.  Thanks for saying hi with your text message, though... it's always so great to hear from you.  :)

*sneaks up on you*
*moves stealthily like niiiiinja and gently pokes you in the side, then disappears as quickly and invisibly as he came*  I was excited about the tournament both before it began and during the competitions themselves.  It was too cool, and an experience you should definitely take some part in one day.  :)

Same here...
I know you would've had a blast at the tournament, whether you were in it or watching it... because it required audience participation.  It was a lot of fun to run it, though I found myself frantically trying to keep organized and on top of everything the entire time.  I'm just extremely thankful that it ran as smoothly as it did, and that everyone had tons of fun as far as I can tell.  If you're ever in my area in the future, you're more than welcome to as many free DDR games as you can play.  :)

A tournament of your own, eh? Sounds fun. I'm still a little too embarrassed to participate anywhere other than The Hangout, but no big deal. I love DDR for the exact same reasons you do. My legs are looking a lot better. :)

One more thing: could you please make people wipe their shoes before getting on? Out here, we have snow and road salt, and people don't wipe their shoes, and then they play, and this led to me falling off the machine over Christmas break. I wish The Hangout had that rule. I wouldn't have gotten that goose egg on my forehead.

Hmm...
We mainly just shop the pads to be sure they're working the best they can, then monitor their usage throughout the tournament.  I'm really sorry you fell when you were playing, especially if it was someone else's fault.  *hugs you*

Damn. I can't make it to your competition, but rest assured, I'd rock all y'all into the Y3K. I'm good. I got skillz to eat kosher dillz and Viagra pillz in Bevery Hillz with Pterodactylz. What I'm saying here is I need five bucks. How about some of that cash prize goodness?

<a href="http://remix.overclocked.org" target="new"</a>Overclocked Remix</a> is my new home away from home. I'm utterly floored by the number of great remixes of old NES tunes. Usually seeing the word "REMIX" attached to a tune is enough to send me into a killin' rage, but I've only sampled about three OC remixes that I didn't like. Nice as that Bubble Man offering is, it just can't compete with <a href="http://remix.overclocked.org/detailmix.php?mixid=OCR00219" target="new">Crashthe70sMan</a> from Daknit, Bard of Tarot for sheer FUNK value. GET EQUIPPED WITH WAKKA-CHICKA-WAKKA-CHIKA-WOW-WOW!

You're so funky that it hurts my afro!
*imagines you doing covers of funky 70s hit music, equipped with an enormous afro and some rockin' white clunky shoes*  Ladies and gentlemen, that funky pimp Shaz has arrived!  All hail his phreaky phunk!!!

Re: ooh...
I actually held the contest the day before you posted that, but thank you so much for wishing me well.  I can't imagine the tournament going any better than it did... and I wish you'd been there to watch or compete.  You're always so nice to me, and everyone else... and it'd be awesome to meet you some day.  You might also want to check DDR Freak to be extra sure there aren't any DDR machines anywhere near you, if you haven't already.  I hope you have a wonderful week.  :)

Oooh, had your own tourney? Impressive. How'd it go?

I really wanna play Extreme but y'know . . . me being a poor college student and all, I can't really afford the $1/play cost of the only Extreme machine around here. ^__^;

I guess I'll just have to stick with MAX2 for a while yet . . . and hook up my pad to the comp for some Extreme action on DWI! Thank the gods for bemanistyle.com. ;)

Awww...
The tourmanent was a smash hit... I had no idea it would turn out so well.  By the way, check out Bemani Sims as soon as you read this.  You'll love me to death for telling you about that site if you haven't already seen it, trust me.  It's too bad you're not closer to San Francisco, or I'd treat you to as much DDR as you'd like... provided you'd be willing to share the stage with me at the same time.  Hell, I pay $2 for three or four songs (or Oni, which I usually do instead) at the spot I crowd whore at, which is just a few blocks from my full time job.  I play there a lot, actually.  :)

Re: where am I
Your IP address is 24.93.241.143.  That would put you in Reston, Virginia... with a zip code of 20191.  Would you like to know more about yourself, such as your street address and telephone number?  Perhaps you're curious about what version of Windows you're using?  *evil grin*  So, need a LiveJournal invite code... or do you prefer your assumption that no one can figure out who you are when you comment on people's journals?  If you'd like to stop lurking, I have plenty of codes... and I'd be more than happy to share one with you.

You can't even get on your cellular phone?  Ugh... parents can be so lame.  I'm just relieved that I basically haven't had to worry about parents ever bothering me again since around the time I turned 18.  No need to apologize... I feel for ya, bro.  Hang in there, and I hope things are better in the morning.  If you decide to slip out the window or something, feel free to call me any time.  I hope we talk soon, bro.

Re: Hihi
*holds you close to him, kissing your cheek*  I just checked out your LiveJournal, like 20 minutes or so ago... because I hadn't seen a post from you in so long.  I didn't compete in the tournament, actually... I was the person who created and organized it, so entering my own competition to win the prizes I paid for wouldn't really serve any useful purpose.  ;)

It was an awesome competition, full of humor and excitement... and I wish you had been there to enjoy it with me.  I wouldn't have really had much time to talk with you while the tournament was going on, because I was so busy... but having you there would have made it even more wonderful, even if it just meant that I'd catch one of your smiles pointed in my direction from time to time.

I really miss you a lot.  When will I get the chance to see you again, Kei...?
