I'm not dead...

...and in fact, I'm far from it.  I'm really sorry for not posting for nearly four months, though... that's sort'a inexcusable.  Still, I'll try and catch everyone up as best I can.  First off, my Web site went down... and when it came back up, my entire account was gone.  While a recovery process is underway, I may not get a lot of my site back.  However, I've already moved to a new (and much faster) Web server.  The forums for ChronoTrigger.com are currently being hosted on this server as well, and will be live soon.  In other news, I'm in the process of moving east... to Pleasant Hill, which is about a 45 minute drive from my apartment in San Rafael.  John (l33tsysadmin) has been gracious enough to allow me to move in with him.  Oh, and by the way... it's my birthday tomorrow.  I'll be 25.  :)

Yes, I'm going to Anime Expo 2004... and strangely enough, it's a convention I'm not staffing.  *grin*  I'm leaving Monday with Randee (zell_dincht) and Cassie (jia_yan) for Los Angeles, where I'll be staying with Randee's family for a while... and come time for the convention, we'll already be down there to partake in it.  When I get back, I'll be around for about a week and a half... and then I'm headed to Lima, Peru for three weeks to visit family there.  I went there last year with my mom, and I'm doing so again this year.  I'm really looking forward to seeing many of you at the convention... and I'll have my brand spanking new AudioVox CDM-8900 camera phone down there with me, so we can all keep in touch.  The phone has already solved most of my woes, but still gets weird reception at Starbase Arcade... where I plan to continue to work on Friday, for as long as I can stand the really long journey there and back using public transportation that really sucks (except for the BART trains).

After finishing a meal at a Chinese restaurant, I received a fortune cookie that contained this note: "Love is a beautiful twilight that enhances every object."  The cookie was right... and I keep this fortune with me always.  I believe that my life is reaching a very critical turning point right now... and if I'm right, you may begin to see a side of me that you've never seen before... and it may be the last side of me you ever see.  All will be revealed in time... and hopefully everything will work out for the best.  I hate to be mysterious like this, but I have no choice in this particular case.  Everyone involved knows why, too.  So... anyone up for a party?

I'm throwing a LiveJournal party at the Metreon... at 2:00pm today (Saturday the 26th).  If you're confused as to why I'm only posting about this party on the very day that it's happening, well... you're not the only one.  All I've been doing lately is working, packing and moving my stuff, and trying to sleep in the small amount of time between planning my two trips lately.  I slacked on posting it because I figured that I'd call most everyone that I wanted to invite, and the rest would hear about it by word of mouth... which amazingly has happened more quickly than I expected it to.  I'll be making more calls today, but yeah... everyone's invited, it's cool.  I'll pick up some drinks and snacks as always... and this time, I'll be ranking all of you for some "honorable mention" in my LiveJournal.  *grin*  If you have any questions about how to get to the party, call my cellular phone.  On the agenda is some Ultimate Frisbee playing, DDR, a movie, Karaoke, and a small afterparty at my new place.  Details will be explained by phone, or in person at the party.  :)

I'd like to thank Mike (jetblack), Melody (comeseptember), Liz (ganymedefox), Lauren (marle), Sydney (mai_sama), Guillaume (norcaldude), and other close friends for checking in on me during my long absence from LiveJournal.  It really means a lot to me, and I adore you for it.  Oh, and I'm sorry that I've missed so many of your birthdays... but while I'm posting, I'd like to wish Jessica (pygopagus), Jin (blueskydream), and Rob (skie) a happy birthday today.  Oh, and speaking of Rob... it was recently orangelounge's birthday as well!  Jean (amefuri) also shares a birthday with me... so happy birthday to her as well~!  Also, jetblack... I still feel really bad about not being able to hang with you on your birthday because I was moving.  I do hope to make it up to you.  *tears off Mike's pants, and... er, just kidding*  ;)

So, yeah... that was long, as my posts traditionally are when I wait this long to make 'em.  I had more to say... but I can't remember what it was, so I guess it'll have to wait until next time I update.  I just hope that it isn't in 15 weeks... but odds are that I'll update from Peru like I did last time.  It sure was a pain with those horrible keyboards they had at the 'net cafes, though... but hopefully I'll remember to bring a little roll up flexible USB keyboard with me this time, so that I can use that while I'm there.  ^^  So... if you haven't heard from me in a while, you now have a better idea of why I've been so busy.  I still haven't transferred all 500 numbers into my new cellular phone, either... so don't hesitate to call me to get your number back in my phone more quickly.  I miss you guys... and I hope that I hear from a bunch of you very soon.  Come join me at the Metreon today if you have time~!  :)

Whoa, it's Paola~!
I've missed you, hon... and I'd love to talk with you again.  I'm still adding numbers to my new phone, but I just looked up yours so that I could send you a text message.  I had first tried sending you one through LiveJournal, but it failed... claiming you had set up an improper e-mail address for it.  You might want to take a look at that.  I also tried calling the number I have stored for you (91x-45x-32xx) but I only got a voice mail box.

After leaving a voice message, I got a call back from the number... but it was a guy, and he seemed to be having trouble understanding me.  Meh, I think that I need a new cell number from you.  Are you still with T-Mobile, by the way?  Anyhow... if you'd like to call me, mine is (415) 302-8869.  It's also available from a link in my LiveJournal profile.  :)

You never let me down, Sarah... you always reply to my comments quickly, with something extremely thoughtful.  I'm in love with your icons, too.  *hugs you close*  I wish you weren't so far away, so that we could hang out some time...

Vengeance shall be mine. I wish I could go to the Met, but I get off work at noon, and I'll be pretty dead on my feet. Have fun, though.

Awww...
Thanks for the very kind wishes, Mara.  I swear, you're just as beautiful inside as you are outside... which is amazing, since I've never seen anyone who I found more attractive than you in my entire life.  (Yes, really.)  I hope that we can hang out some time... just let me know if you're ever bored, and want to talk or whatever.  Have a wonderful weekend.  :)

Happy birthday tomorrow! Sorry I haven't been visiting the Base, first it was finals and shit like that and now my grandparents are here from Germany (don't worry, you know me right, I am Russian, they just live there) and I'm exhausted from acting as a tour guide. But I will definetly see you.

Re: =3
We actually met at the Metreon during the launch event for Final Fantasy XI on the domestic PS2 hard disk drive.  I was cosplaying as Irvine Kinneas from Final Fantasy VIII, and we somehow got to talking... and eventually exchanged LiveJournal user names.  You added me after I added you, shortly after the event.  It's great to hear from you again.  Feel free to give me a ring at (415) 302-8869 if you want to meet up with us at any point today, or if you ever want to talk.  That's my cell number, which is always on.  :)

First of all, let me wish you a Happy Birthday. (Yes, you're another person who is younger than I am, even though I don't look my actual age. [Spoiler: I turn 35 in August, and on my actual birthday, I'll be back in downtown San Jose again for California Extreme, a classic arcade game show - $40 for an entire weekend of free play on classic coin-op games is a good starter to celebrating the entire weekend.])

Depending on the cell phone, antenna location, and outside factors, such as subsceptibility to radiofrequency interference from other sources, such as computers, arcade coin-op games, and etc.; I can understand why you may not get a good signal deep in the middle of an arcade. As long as you can work your way to the outside to get enough bars to send and receive, I guess.

Anyway, I figured you still had the majority of things in order if you were still making it out to events like Anime Overdose and Fanime Con (Aside from staffing commitments.) I hope today's Metreon gathering goes well, though I'll be up in Sacramento, partaking in some good (and moderately pricey) sushi, as well as checking out an anime club up there. I'll keep my eyes peeled for any other upcoming events over the next few months, hopefully when you get more settled.

I'm sorry to hear about the problems with your web site, and I hope you have better luck with your new hosting provider. I made the jump to paid hosting a year and a half ago, and I haven't looked back since (though I still have a few megs of space with a friend of my up in Grants Pass, Oregon, on his linux box.) I've had rather good luck and good service and support with my web hosting company, Amhosting, based out of Reno, NV. They responded promptly back in January, when quite a lot of sites they hosted, including mine, got hacked in some kind of hacking contest going on. (The damage was limited to defacing every "index.*" page I had on there, including my administration interface.) - They were able to restore eveything within a day. Fortunately, I've always believed in having local backups of my work, on my hard drive as well as the occasional CDR copy of what I've done so far. Backups are your friend. ^_^;

Have a good time today, have a safe trip (or trips), and I'll drop you a line, maybe even from Sacramento today.

Yay, a post! :D
Did you get my e-mails? I sent along some birthday wishes last night, as well as some other things I wanted to say. I consider them important, so could you please read them when you find the time? Thanks.

"The last side of me you'll ever see"? That leaves several questions in my mind. It could be both good OR bad, if you ask me. I doubt it means you're suicidal, which it would in other people that I know, but it could also mean that we'll know more than we ever knew about you. I doubt that any of us will know everything about you, no matter what your friends may claim. The only person who knows everything about you is you yourself. Hell, there's still stuff you don't know about me. If you want to know it, feel free to ask.

I'll be back in the dorm in late August, and I'll give you a call then. My number will remain the same unless something happens to it (number change, rewiring, Armageddon, cicadas eating the phone lines). Now that I think about it, cicadas very well could eat the phone lines. This IS Verizon we are talking about.

Take care of yourself, okay? I'd join you at the Metreon if I could, but my physical location doesn't allow that. Give me a holler through e-mail or whatever sometime, okay? I miss you.
